Charles Malik, Lebanese diplomat and member of the Drafting Committee of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, once said: “The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world.” The status of women around the western world has made great progress in recent times. Nevertheless, more needs to be done to better the state of gender equality and the representation of women in all spheres of life.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2021, the McGill School of Continuing Studies and the Jean Monnet Centre Montreal have invited Sophie Lagoutte, Consul General of France in Montreal, Elisa Valentin, Delegate General of Quebec in Munich, Germany, and Dr. Kathrin Misera-Lang, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Montreal to discuss the state of women in politics and their impact on diplomacy. Listen-in on the bilingual round-table moderated by Dr. Maria Popova (Jean Monnet Chair, McGill University) and Dr. Carola Weil (McGill University) as they explore the progress and challenges of women in foreign policy and recount their personal experiences.
