Why do young people learn German in Canada?

SoGerman visited six schools in Ontario and Quebec to talk to students, teachers and principals to find out their motivation and gain insight into their classrooms. Among these six schools are German schools abroad, Canadian independent schools, and PASCH schools, which are part of the network and initiative “Schools: Partners of the Future”, which was created by the German Federal Foreign Office in 2008.

Follow along here as we share what we learned in this series of videos, made by SoGerman!

What is a DSD school and diploma?

1,100 DSD schools worldwide make up the “Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) network. The network was set up by the Federal Foreign Office to teach the DSD German language diploma of the Conference of Culture Ministers to Levels I or II. This diploma is an internationally recognised certificate of a specific level of proficiency in German which qualifies the holder for admission to a preparatory course (“Studienkolleg”) or a university in Germany.
