This post looks back on the night — the night of November 9, 1989 — the night the Berlin Wall fell and the weeks and months that followed.
The Berlin Wall divided East and West Germany for close to 30 years. While it stood, the Berlin Wall was a stark and physical reminder of the divisive geopolitical fractures of the Cold War era. The Fall of the Berlin Wall, opening the German-German borders and reunification were once unthought-of – until November 9th, 1989 that is.
