Each year, the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst / German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports nearly 120,000 German and international students, faculty and researchers with scholarships and funding – making it the world’s largest academic exchange organization of its kind. DAAD, a private, publicly funded, self-governing organization of higher education institutions in Germany, represents the German higher education system abroad. DAAD promotes Germany as a destination for study and research, and help build ties between German institutions and their partners around the world. We also promote the internationalization of German universities, assist developing countries in building their own systems of higher education, and support the continued study of German study language abroad. DAAD maintains a worldwide network of 69 offices, including an Information Point in Canada in Toronto. DAAD’s budget for 2020 was 610 million Euros.
