One Million Minutes (Germany 2024, 120 min)
Directed by Christopher Doll, with Tom Schilling and Karoline Herfurth.
“Oh, Dad, I wish we had a million minutes. Just for the really nice things, you know?”
Vera and Wolf Küper lead a seemingly happy life in Berlin with their two young children, Nina and Simon. However, their underlying struggle to navigate their work and personal life finally shatters when they discover that their daughter suffers from a fine motor disorder. When Nina expresses a childlike wish to spend “a million minutes” with her parents, it sets the stage for a compelling and impulsive narrative: for a million minutes, 694 days, the family searches for an alternative lifestyle in various parts of the world. Based on a true story and novel by author Wolf Küper.
