Family Movie: Greetings from Mars
Movie Screening | A story about a space mission, change and courage.
Sarah Winkenstette’s film tells the story of an outsider whose uniqueness becomes his superpower, allowing him to bring together two generations that at first seem as alien to each other as possible. Based on the book by Sebastian Grusnick and Thomas Möller.
Tom is ten years old and loves space. What he doesn’t like are changes, red things, and loud noises. When his mother has to travel to China, he is sent to spend six weeks with his grandparents in the countryside of Lunau—practically the middle of nowhere! To help him cope with all these changes, his mother suggests seeing the trip as a practice Mars mission. Tom appoints his phone-addicted sister as the communications officer and his hyperactive brother as the first officer. Together, they explore “Planet Lunau” and navigate the strange rules of their grandparents. Will Tom manage to get through the six weeks and come one step closer to his dream of flying to Mars one day?
The film will be shown in German with English subtitles. Suitable for children aged 8 and up.
