These 10 German Artists Are The Future

Do you sometimes have the feeling of constantly repeating music? The reason could be a not really good radio station, or a catchy tune from your favorite artist. I can’t really say why some artist are more famous than others. I believe it is a combination of luck and talent. In this blog post I not only want to show you some really gifted german artists, but your future  catchy tunes to sing along with. I love going to concerts, so every artist I recommend I already saw live on stage. I tried to be not narrow in the choise of genre, but in the end it is my personal taste. Germany has so many talented young artists – so get over Nena and start loving these guys!

Fil Bo Riva

With his remarkable, smokey voice Fil Bo Riva, born in Rome now living in Berlin, let festival crowds going crazy. The singer-songwriter mixes genres in his works. His debut album comes in spring next year.

Fil Bo Riva always liked the “little weird mystery” behind movies from the 60s. “Go Rilla as a song was certainly inspired by the feeling of unbridled passion and the rapturous idea of escaping the real world and I wanted to somehow translate this kind of „other world“ into the video for the song and the album in general.”

This song is full of energy and dynamic. The powerful guitar and great hookline can’t let you sit. Promised!

Lilly Among Clouds

The ideas are in her head and her head is in the clouds – that’s how Lilly Among Clouds was born. Meanwhile she is convinced: “Big stages mean incredible fun”. So it’s no wonder that she wants to be one of the biggest in the world – at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. Their songs can be dramatic and calm, but also multi-layered and danceable, simply pop.

Femme Schmidt

Femme Schmidt is a german singer-singwriter mixing pop and jazz music. 2010 she got in contact with Guy Chambers, who is a famous british producer and songwriter also working for Robbie Williams.

Her song heart-shaped gun gives you the feeling of a dark James Bond movie. Goose bumps guaranteed.

MELE

I first heard MELE on a small but really good festival at Lake Constance in the south of Germany. MELE is naughty, brave, different. Her text is incredible funny and a good reason to learn German.

Giant Rooks

The indie-pop-band Giant Rooks was founded in Hamm, 2014. Giant Rooks are simply a band to love. Perfect for a rainy (or snowy) day with a warm tea, some good cookies at a cosy warm fireplace.

Mine and AB Syndrom

Beyond any genre drawer, experimental omnichord sounds shimmer through their songs via strong piano melodies. Driving drums, minimalistic guitar riffs and choral songs suggest a ghostly epic.

In her song “Spiegelbild” Mine works together with the Berlin Duo AB Syndrom. What a great collaboration! The song has many good parts, but my favorite is the rap part at the end. That’s how autotune is done!

Alltag

Alltag is the future of german EDM. He hadn’t produced so many pieces so far, but that what he produced excites for the future. A row diamond!

MarieMarie

With her voice MarieMarie could sing an opera, in addition to that she plays the harp. Not a usual combination to produce a driving pop hymne. But she did. Cotton Candy Hurricane is my favorite song of MarieMarie. She created the phrase “folktronic pop” because she mixes folk, electronic music and pop. She already was the supporting act of the famous “pet shop boys”.

Leoniden

Oops, they did it again. Leoniden my all time favorite band made their second album. If you have Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal or something similar listen to their new song “Slow”. I simply love it.

During typing this song in your online music player, you can hear this song from their first album, still a really good track:
