Call for Contributions: #Fall4German – A Canada-Wide Celebration of the German Language

In 2026, Germany and Canada celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. To mark this milestone, we are inviting schools, universities, language programs, cultural organizations, German communities, and German learners across Canada to contribute ideas or activities and help shape a special national initiative: #Fall4German.

Throughout October 2026, during German Heritage Month, partners from coast to coast to coast will come together for a Canada-wide celebration of the German language. Through events, activities, stories, videos, and creative projects, #Fall4German will showcase the many ways German connects people, cultures, careers, ideas, and communities.

German is one of the world’s leading languages in science, research, culture, innovation, and business. For many Canadians, it is also a language of family history, travel, friendship, and personal discovery. Whether you are learning your first German words, teaching the language, conducting research, participating in an exchange program, or celebrating German heritage, your story is part of the larger picture.

We are now inviting organizations, institutions and groups across Canada to contribute ideas and activities for #Fall4German.

Possible contributions include:

•          Language-learning events and workshops

•          School and university activities

•          Cultural programs and performances

•          Student projects and competitions

•          Exchange program stories and alumni experiences

•          Community celebrations

•          Creative digital content highlighting connections to German

Selected activities will be featured as part of a coordinated national campaign, including social media storytelling under the hashtag #Fall4German.

Together, we can highlight the value of multilingualism, celebrate the diversity of German-speaking communities in Canada, and inspire a new generation of German learners.

Join us in helping Canada fall for German.
