Join us at the Goethe-Institut Toronto for the next instalment of our Media Mingle series, where we’ll explore the fascinating world of German pop music in the 2020s.

Every month, our Media Lounge becomes a place for cultural discovery and connection. This time, we’ll take a look at some of the most exciting artists and influential songs of the 2020s. The decade is characterized by cultural diversity, digital connectivity, and a music scene where genre boundaries are increasingly blurring. Pop, hip-hop, indie, electronic music, and international influences are merging into new forms of musical expression.

Streaming platforms, social media, and short-form video apps have influenced the way music is discovered and shared more than ever before. At the same time, many artists use their music to reflect on personal experiences, social issues, and questions of identity, diversity, and social cohesion. This has given rise to a creative and dynamic music scene that reflects contemporary Germany in many different ways.

We’ll introduce artists and their work through audio samples and music videos. All texts are provided in both German and English so you can better connect with the music. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss the music and share your thoughts with the other participants.
