Founded in 1968, the Chamber is a non-profit organization established to strengthen the bilateral economic relations between Canada and Germany, with focus on small and medium-sized companies. The Chamber is regulated under the Ontario law, with a board of directors comprised of representatives from leading Canadian and German companies. Its head office is located in Toronto with a branch office in Montreal.

As an official representative of the German industry and trade, the Chamber is recognized as an official German Chamber of Commerce (AHK) abroad by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) in Berlin and supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag. It serves as the primary contact for companies, organizations, and individuals who are interested in entering the Canadian or German market, as well as assistance in business development in the respective countries. It offers valuable contacts and provides business partner introductions.

The Chamber currently has over 500 members in Canada and Germany, with primary membership in Ontario, followed by Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta. As a membership-driven organization, the Chamber responds to its members’ interests and offers events that provide excellent networking opportunities within the Canadian German business community.
