Willkommen bei den Hartmanns – EUFF 2017

Nov 25, 2017, 7 p.m.
National Gallery of Canada

Categories: , ,

The number one box office hit in Germany in 2016, Welcome to the Hartmanns is a comedy with a political conscience, telling the story of a well-off Munich family offering room and board to an African refugee. While Diallo, a young man from Nigeria, easily endears himself to the Hartmann family members, their affection towards him is soon tested when they have to face racism, a sceptical and even hostile government bureaucracy, and terrorist suspicions about Diallo held by their fellow Germans. Deftly balancing humour and seriousness,Welcome is a very timely film.
