Information & Networking Event – Monday, Sept. 25th, 2017

The German Academic International Network (GAIN and Research in Germany invite you to an event on research and science careers in Germany which will take place at the Munk School of Global Affairs, Toronto on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

This event will combine information on pursuing research in Germany with opportunities to network.

The event will begin at 5:30 pm with an Information Session entitled “The German Research Landscape – Funding and Career Opportunities for Early-Career Researchers“ which will provide details on programs to support research activities in Germany and with German partners.

This session will be followed at 6:30 pm by a keynote from Prof. Dr. Otmar Wiestler, President of the Helmholtz Association, a network of 18 scientific-technical and biological-medical research centres pursuing top-level research to identify and explore the major challenges facing society, science and the economy. Dr. Wiestler’s keynote will present his vision of the future of science and research in Germany, Europe, and its global contexts. His talk is titled:

„Science in Germany – Investing in Talent”

At the keynote’s conclusion, attendees will be invited to connect at a reception between 7 – 8:30 pm. Here there will be an opportunity to network with fellow researchers from the Toronto area, Dr. Wiestler along with representatives of the Helmholtz-Association, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the German Academic International Network (GAIN).
